DESERT HOT SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA (August 7, 2017) – An equestrian was involved in a two car collision while riding a horse at the intersection of Palm Drive and 20th Avenue Monday evening, according to Desert Hot Springs Police. (map)
The incident occurred at approximately 8:30 p.m. when a Sunbus and another vehicle collided into the horse and the rider at the intersection of Palm Drive and 20th Avenue. The male rider sustained major injuries and was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs for treatment. The horse died as a result of the collision, according to Desert Hot Springs Deputy Police Officer, Jim Henson.
There were apparently no injuries reported to have been sustained between the occupants of the two vehicles. The Riverside County Department of Animal Services was called, in order to collect the dead horse.
“Police will gather evidence and conduct interviews with the drivers and witnesses to determine liability” said the attorneys from West Alliance Injury Lawyers. “Any injured party involved in an accident will have a bodily injury claim against the negligent driver who caused the accident.”
