Two of the children, ages 9 and 10, were airlifted to a nearby hospital, and Guthrie and the 8 year old were taken to another hospital with non life threatening injuries. The accident remains under investigation, however initial reports indicate the crossing is not equipped with crossing arms or lights, only signs to warn drivers of the crossing.
“Almost one death or injury per day occurs on the rail system in the United States. Many of these tragic deaths are avoidable, the rail system is antiquated and needs a complete overhaul to ensure the safety of pedestrians, drivers, and train passengers,” said the attorneys from West Alliance Injury Lawyers.
