PINELLAS PARK, FLORIDA (August 16, 2017) – Ida Pacheco was identified as the woman killed in a tragic accident at a recycling facility in Florida on Tuesday, according to a local news source. (map)
82 year old Ida Pacheco was known in the community for her recycling, and generous nature. Pacheco would often use the money she got from turning in cardboard and other recyclables, just to help people in her neighborhood or donate to her church. On Tuesday, Ida wandered into an area of the Recycling Services of Florida where heavy machinery was being used. A 31,000 pound front loader with a load in the shovel struck Pacheco, then ran her over a moment later.
The operator of the loader, whose vision was obscured due to the load in his shovel, did not notice Pacheco on the ground until he returned for another load. Emergency services were immediately called, but Ida Pacheco was tragically pronounced dead. The accident remains under active investigation to determine how or why Pacheco wandered into the dangerous area, and to determine cause and liability.
“Sadly, there are no words that can comfort all family members and friends affected by this tragic accident,” said the attorneys from West Alliance Injury Lawyers. “Our thoughts and prayers are with all those involved.”
