“Pedestrian vs. Vehicle Accident”
ORANGE, CALIFORNIA (June 23, 2017) – 81-year-old Jiuan Aylward was involved in a fatal crash on North Canal Street and East Vista Del Playa Avenue,early Friday morning, according to the Orange Police Department. (map)
The incident occurred at approximately 4:58 a.m. Aylward was crossing the street at North Canal Street and East Vista Del Playa Avenue when she was hit by a truck, according to Orange Police Department Sgt. Rob Thorsen.
Aylward was transported to a local hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries. There is no controlled crosswalk at that section of the street. The driver of the pickup truck remained at the scene an cooperated with officials. Officials concluded that drug and alcohol were not factors in the collision. An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the deadly crash.
