CERRITOS, CALIFORNIA (August 5, 2017) – LA County Sheriff’s deputy Michael Haak was tragically killed on Saturday on the 605 Freeway, according to a local news source. (map)
52 year old Michael Haak was off duty and in his personal vehicle when it began experiencing issues on the northbound side of the 605 Freeway, between South Street and Artesia Boulevard. Michael Haak pulled to the shoulder and exited his vehicle, then was struck by a passing car in the right lane.
Michael Haak was tragically pronounced dead as a result of the accident. The driver that struck Haak remained at the scene and is cooperating with authorities in their investigation, which remains ongoing at this time.
