“Semi vs. Car Fatality”
BAKERSFIELD, CALIFORNIA (August 22, 2017) – 24-year-old Lacey McQuilliams was killed in a semi vs. car collision Rosedale Highway and Nord Avenue Tuesday evening, according to the California Highway Patrol. (map)
The accident occurred at approximately 11:20 p.m. when the vehicle, driven by 27-year-old Mark Hoyt traveling northbound on Nord Avenue, failed to stop at a stop sign and collided into a semi. The impact caused the vehicle to be trapped underneath the semi, according to CHP officials.
McQuilliams was a passenger in the vehicle along with 26-year-old Stephen Walker and a 23-year-old woman who has not yet been identified. All of the passengers in the vehicle were killed as a result of the collision.
The driver of the semi did not appear to sustain any injuries from the collision.
An investigation is ongoing to determine if drugs ad alcohol were factors in to the collision.
