LONG BEACH, CALIFORNIA (August 30, 2017) – A man has died after being extricated from between a Metro train and the platform at Wardlow Station on Tuesday, according to a local news source. (map)
The accident happened around 8:40 pm at the Wardlow Station. A man, identified only as being in his 20s, was reportedly involved in some kind of interaction with police, and was standing too close to the edge of the platform when an incoming train arrived. He was struck by the train and knocked down between the train and the platform, becoming trapped.
Arriving emergency personnel used airbags to free the man, and rushed him to a local hospital. He tragically died a short time later from his injuries. The accident remains under open investigation to determine cause and liability at this time.
