LONG ISLAND, NEW YORK (August 14, 2017) – A two car accident left three people killed and four injured on Monday afternoon in Long Island, according to a local news source. (map)
The accident happened around 4:25 pm on Monday, on Station Road in Medford. A 20 year old man lost control of his red Honda Civic and crossed into opposing traffic, slamming into a white Nissan Pathfinder head on.
The driver of the Honda Civic, identified as 20 year old Dominick Lopez, and his 23 year old passenger, Derek Buffa, were both ejected from the vehicle and were pronounced dead at the scene. A rear seat passenger in the Pathfinder, identified as 67 year old Aida Cardenas, was rushed to a hospital where she tragically succumbed to her injuries as well.
The injured parties were identified as the driver of the Pathfinder, 41 year old Hugo Atiencia, his 33 year old wife Dianna Arizago, and two children aged 11 and 1 years of age. The accident remains under active investigation at this time to determine cause and liability.
