NEW MEXICO (January 31, 2017) – A civilian contractor was killed and an Air Force service member was injured on Tuesday in a training accident at Holloman Air Force Base, according to local news sources. (map)
The accident happened on Tuesday evening at Holloman Air Force Base, located off of US-70 in New Mexico near Alamogordo. F-16s were using unspecified air to ground munitions in a training exercise, when two people from a ground control party were struck.
The civilian contractor involved in the accident was tragically pronounced dead. An Air Force service member injured in the accident was treated at a hospital and released. The accident remains under investigation.
