PACOIMA, CALIFORNIA (January 26, 2017) – According to the California Highway Patrol, one person was killed on Thursday in a wrong-way collision on the Interstate 5 Freeway near the Van Nuys Boulevard off-ramp. (map)
CHP Officer Joel Ortega reported that a vehicle was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes around 2:00 a.m. until the motorist collided with another vehicle.
Officer Ortega states that the driver of a Mercedes-Benz was pronounced dead at the scene and was only described as a male between the ages of 25 to 30 years old. The driver of the other vehicle was trapped and was extricated by fire officials. It is unknown which car was traveling in the wrong direction.
