RUIDOSO, NEW MEXICO (June 13, 2017) – Two people were killed after a small plane crash on Tuesday evening, according to a local news source. (map)
The small plane, described as a Beechcraft King Air plane, went down around 10:00 pm on Tuesday at the Ruidoso Airport which is about 140 miles northeast of El Paso, Texas. The plane was reportedly en route to Abilene, Texas from Ruidoso, and crashed just after take off for an unknown reason.
On board the plane was 39 year old pilot Justin King, and his 13 year old son Hayden King, both from Ruidoso. The plane caught on fire immediately after impact, and both Justin and Hayden King were tragically pronounced dead. The FAA and the NTSB are both on site, with the NTSB leading the investigation into the tragic accident.
