SAN GABRIEL, CALIFORNIA (July 14, 2017) – At least one person was killed in a small plane crash at the San Gabriel Valley Airport on Friday morning, according to a local news source. (map)
The accident happened around 9:30 am. A single engine home built Pazmany PL-2 was attempting to take off on runway 19 when it abruptly crashed for an unknown reason.
The pilot of the plane was tragically declared dead at the scene as a result of the accident. Initial reports indicated there was a second person on board the plane, however those reports have not been confirmed. The accident remains under investigation by the FAA, the NTSB, and local authorities.
