A 2000 Buick Sedan driven by a 30 year old female from Stockton, suffered mechanical issues and was parked on the right shoulder of the southbound side of the 5 Freeway near the Monte Diablo Avenue off-ramp. A 2016 Volvo tractor trailer heading southbound veered off the road and struck the Buick. The impact caused the Buick to burst into flames.
The woman inside the Buick was tragically pronounced dead at the scene as a result of her injuries. The investigation is ongoing to determine cause and liability in this tragic accident, and initial reports have identified the driver of the semi truck as a 39 year old man from Nevada.
“Sadly, there are no words that can comfort all family members and friends affected by this tragic accident,” said Attorney West Seegmiller. “Our thoughts and prayers are with all those involved.”
